STM will trial the app for shared taxibus services in Senneville and Saint-Anne-de-Bellevue from October 2021 until the end of the year.
The Société de transport de Montréal (STM), in collaboration with its partner MUVE, has announced that it will be testing a new reservation app for its shared taxibus service in the areas of Senneville and Saint-Anne-de-Bellevue (the Sainte-Marie neighbourhood). Testing of the app will begin on 4 October 2021 and continue until the end of 2021.
“Launched in collaboration with our technology partners MUVE and Fraxion Communications, this pilot project will allow us to assess the demand for this service and determine future uses for this new technology,” says Philippe Schnobb, Chair of the STM Board of Directors.
“The initiative also aims to make it easier to use our shared taxibus service and offer more benefits to customers, as part of our goal to continually improve the mobility experience of those who use the service. The new app will be tested by roughly 100 customers,” Schnobb added.
Shared taxibus services are a form of public transit best suited to areas where it is not possible to implement regular bus service. The way that these services work varies depending on the location, but they always involve reserving trips in advance.
